I am interested in the sensual power of color, form, and material. My process involves the exploration and manipulation of everyday materials. I want to discover the material’s potential and limitations. I utilize alternative painting techniques by dipping and pouring paint over objects. Materials are tied, tacked, and wrapped with string, duct tape, vinyl, and nylon. I enjoy the repetitive nature of hand work and the opportunity for unstructured play.

My current materials of choice are commercial bath poufs, which I have been collecting, deconstructing, braiding, and arranging into sculptural forms. These brightly colored poufs transform into long tendrils. The colors contrast and vibrate invoking sensual pleasure.

I want these sculptural forms to acknowledge their relationship to sexuality and gender, to relate to the internal and external experiences of the female body, and reference the variety and individuality associated with girl groups, simultaneously critiquing the aspects of popular culture that depoliticize feminism through the commodified, dumbed down version of "Girl Power" and promotes consumption as an empowering act for women.
